Port Roseau cruise ship schedule shows timetable calendars of all arrival and departure dates by month. The port's schedule lists all ships (in links) with cruises going to or leaving from Roseau, Dominica. To see the full itineraries (ports of call dates and arrival / departure times) and their lowest rates – just follow the corresponding ship-link. The heart of downtown Roseau is just yards away from the cruise port. Roseau is said to offer the best fruit and vegetable market in the Caribbean.

Mero, a volcanic gray-black sand beach, is named after the town of Mero, but it actually lies in the neighboring town of St. Joseph. Cruise lines and shore excursion operators offer few trips exclusively to beaches. Dominica is better known for its ecotourism attractions including waterfall hikes. The best Dominica beaches near the cruise port require some form of transportation to reach them. The beach itself is very rocky, with patches of black sand, but it’s the snorkelling opportunities that people come here for, not the sunbathing.
Morne Trois Pitons National Park
It's located in town, just steps away from shops, restaurants and transportation. The Port of Woodbridge Bay, less frequently used, is about a mile north of the city. My absolute number one favourite excursion from Dominica cruise port, was to Titou Gorge. (Such a true favourite that I visited more than once.) The incredible gorge is high up in the mountains, and involves a steep drive uphill, and then a freezing cold swim to a waterfall at the end of the gorge. This breathtaking location was used as a filming location for Pirates of the Caribbean, so you can also live all your Jack Sparrow dreams here. Morne Bruce is a big old hill overlooking Roseau, and if you haven’t got time to get out of the city, a hike up here makes a great thing to do while docked in Dominica cruise port.
Best Hiking in Dominica: 4 Basic Choices for Visitors
The frenetic little city is small geographically but possesses a high concentration of inhabitants. Cocorico Cafe (Bay Front), right across from the pier, is the closest place for snacks, local arts and crafts, and Wi-Fi. A couple of blocks away, the Old Market ranks as one of the best in the Caribbean.
Hike up Morne Bruce
The island features no chain hotels or big-box mega-stores, though there are a Pizza Hut and KFC in Roseau, the capital city. But my favourite place for eating and drinking near Dominica cruise port is undoubtedly the Fort Young Hotel. Roseau is very easy to explore on foot, and my personal opinion is that you’d be missing out if you didn’t spend an hour or so exploring the colourful architecture of this pretty city’s streets. The dry season and particularly the period over Christmas and New Year, are the most popular and busiest times to visit, as the weather is great and many travelers from the north are looking for winter sun. The eastern side of the island faces out over the warm, calm waters of the Caribbean Sea while the western side faces out onto the stormier waves of the Atlantic Ocean.
A visit to Dominica (pronounced Do-min-EE-kah) promises to be unlike any other stop on your itinerary. Prepare to slow down, take in the scenery, breathe fresh air, sample fruit right off the trees and experience nature in a way unique to few places on earth. Getting around mountainous Dominica means negotiating winding, twisty roads. The offshore waters are known for some fine diving and whale-watching. With little room to grow, the small capital of Roseau never exploded in size; it still retains many of its colorful colonial-era wooden houses.
Dominica cruise port, in the little capital city of Roseau, is one of my favourite ports in the Caribbean. The city is compact but beautiful, the people are super friendly, and whether you stick to the city limits or head out to explore the incredible nature of this island, there is so much to see and do. Still, one of the better options is the black sand Mero Beach in the village of Mero. Cruise visitors will need a taxi, rental car or excursion bus to get there.

June through October is the rainy season and also when most hurricanes develop. Roseau ferry terminal serves a regularly scheduled service that directly links Port Roseau with Pointe-a-Pitre Guadeloupe (to the north), Castries Saint Lucia and Fort-de-France Martinique (both to the south). The best time to go to Dominica is April during the dry season (which isn’t that dry) for a combination of low risk of rain and warmer temperatures. The worst time to go is any month from late fall until early winter. Dominica is a rainforest island because it receives a great deal of rain throughout the year. Roseau is a colorful West Indian capital, its streets lined with old stone-and-wood buildings.

Opening Hours and Holidays:
Established in the colonial days, these gardens are a source of life in the city, but also a reminder of the troubles the weather can cause here. The capital of this scenic Caribbean Island is Roseau, and it’s the perfect place to be based in order to explore this unique island to the full. But more than just a base, Roseau is a destination in its own right.
So-called because of the tiny bubbles that rise to the surface from the volcanic floor, Champagne is one of the most popular snorkelling spots in Dominica. About six miles from Roseau, on the west side of Morne Trois Pitons National Park, the Trafalgar Falls are the most-visited sights on the island. Incredibly impressive, they are easily accessed by most hikers.

Once at the pool you may choose to take pictures of the 40-foot waterfall, take a quick di... Fed by clear mountain waters from a 40 foot waterfall, these waters appear emerald green because of the leafy, filtered sunlight. Located in Morne Trois Piton National Park, the pool is a favorite for swimmers and is the 2nd most visited tourist spot on the island. It’s a short 10 minute well-marked walk from the Visitor’s Center to the falls. Guides are available for a hike to Boiling Lake, reportedly the largest boiling lake in the world.
The Boiling Lake is Dominica’s most incredible natural attraction, but also it is most dangerous. Found within the Trois Pitons National Park This huge freshwater lake is heated from below by the boiling gases produced by the violent volcanic activity below the surface of the island. Just south of Roseau, can be found the strange yet beautiful spectacle of Champagne Beach.
You will be expected to be able to manage the hike yourself and use your common sense to keep yourself safe. This cafe offers free WiFi, good “bar” type food and known for their rum punch. Because of its proximity to the cruise port, it is popular among passengers who enjoy its fun, unique atmosphere and great music. The other pier is at the Port of Woodbridge Bay which is used less often and is a mile north of the city. The Portmouth Cruise Ship facility on the northwestern tip of the island is where smaller ships dock.
Inorder to find out more about the cruise ship itineraries such as ports, dates, and arrival/departuretimes just follow the ship’s link. The lake is spectacular, but the hike there is an arduous 8-hour return slog, so it’s only for the fit and healthy. It’s well worth the effort to witness the continually boiling waters of this spectacle.
Street vendors sell everything from fresh fruits and barbecued meats to medicinal herbs and elixirs. Think sweet plantains, mangos, yams, kushkush (cornmeal), fresh fish and locally caught game, all cooked with plenty of Creole spices and savory herbs for a kick. The island’s signature drink— a spiced rum steeped with anisette and lemongrass— is the perfect refresher on a sunny island day. Hop into a 4x4 and explore Dominica’s rainforests, waterfalls and mountains safari-style. Take a dip in the waters of Champagne Beach, where volcanic gases fizzle up from the ocean floor to create a sea of bubbles. This tour takes you to Champagne Beach, then on to Scott’s Head, another downright superb snorkelling spot- where sea turtles are often seen.
Other destinations like the Dominican Republic, Antigua and Barbuda and Aruba, are known for their stunning picture-perfect beaches, but Dominica doesn’t have so many of these. What it does have, is thick rainforests, dramatic gorges and bubbling hot springs, stunning volcanic peaks- nine volcanos, to be exact- and some incredible diving spots. Dominica is known to be one of the most beautiful of the Caribbean Islands.
